Staff Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in employment with the URJ Northeast Camp Institute. Northeast Camp Institute has two co-educational sleep away camps, Eisner Camp in Great Barrington, MA and Crane Lake Camp in West Stockbridge, MA. We are sponsored by Judaism's Reform Movement. Our camps serve children in each of two, four week sessions. Campers range in age from 8 - 16. They primarily come from New York and New England.

The Northeast Camp Institute employs nearly 250 staff members during the summer. They serve camp in several areas:

Counselors -- work directly with campers within a bunk. Each bunk has between 12 and 16 campers and counselors. Counselors make the real difference in the life of a child. Counselors help with all programs and activities of the camp.

Specialists -- work with campers in various programs and activity areas of the camp. These include waterfront,

sports, education and arts. Specialists must have extensive teaching experience and a high level of proficiency in their specialty.

Support Staff -- the camp includes services such as the infirmary, kitchen, maintenance and office. Individuals working in these areas provide for support for the overall operation of the camp.

We expect that all individuals display a high level of personal and professional responsibility. Camp living is in "tight quarters" and works best when each person is caring, responsible and supportive. The camp has high standards for the behavior and conduct of its employees. Work at camp is very demanding. It is also fulfilling.

Living conditions at camp are simple. Counselors live with a group of children. Most other individuals, not living in a bunk, live with other staff members. Our camp season begins in early June and ends in early August.
