Each
summer all of our staff participate in an intensive
training and orientation program to enable them to take
the best care possible of your children.
Our
Unit Heads and Program Directors go through a week long
training that involves: conflict resolution, supervision
skills, behavior modification, safety and security training
and more.
Our
counselors and specialists participate in a nine day
training that includes: the mission and goals of camp,
stages of child development, conflict resolution, evening
programming planning and much, much more.
We
strive to train our staff and afford them opportunities
to improve their skills throughout the non-summer months
as well. Currently, many of our counselors work
year-round as members of one of three different esteemed
fellowship programs.
In
addition to the intensive training our counselors participate
in during our staff orientation, many of them have been
selected to participate in high level training throughout
the year. This
year we are proud to say that we have many of our counselors
who have been chosen to participate in one of two esteemed
Fellowship programs that proved training throughout
the year:
Olim
Fellowship – a two-year fellowship of advanced
Jewish Leadership training for 1st and 2nd
year returning counselors. Together with counselors,
directors and faculty from many other Union for Reform
Judaism camps, the participants develop as leaders in
camp and in the world in general. The program is also
designed to help staff transition from being Machon
to Staff and as they graduate high school and move on
to college. A generous grant by the Foundation for Jewish
Camping funds this program.
Achva
Fellowship – a fellowship that provides advanced
counselor training for second year members of our Israeli
staff. Staff members are selected to participate in
a number of weekend seminars with professional training
staff and develop special programs to bring back to
camp. |
