Louis Bordman
Senior Director
LBordman@urj.org |
Louis Bordman, BSW has been in the field of camping for the past ten years, and in the field of Jewish Education since 1986. Louis started his career as the Youth Director for Temple Beth Sholom in Miami Beach, Florida. Throughout his nine years at Beth Sholom, the youth programs quickly expanded and so did Louis’ role in the Temple. Louis added the title of Director of Youth and then the Director of Education and Principal of the Religious School
to his list of experience. Even though Louis was firmly entrenched in the “formal” world of Jewish Education, he continued to serve the “informal” needs of his community. He continued to supervise the youth groups and led seven NFTY trips to Israel.
Following Louis’ tenure at Temple Beth Sholom, he came to work for the Union for Reform Judaism. Louis served for three years as the Associate Director of Eisner Camp, and then when the Union acquired Crane Lake Camp, Louis became the inaugural Director. Following Crane Lake’s first summer Louis accepted the job of Senior Director of the Northeast Camp Institute, overseeing both Eisner and Crane Lake camps.
In the off season, Louis and his wife Kathy live in New Jersey with their three children, Ashley, Dalya and Jacob. Louis coaches little league soccer and is active in his temple Shaaray Emeth. |
